So...

As you know I was the only one author of Orbitron, but, few weeks ago it was decided to establish kind of research team. The aim is to recognize needs and possibilities of making professional web based satellite tracker. We call it WebOrbitron Smiley

You can use this board to discuss about most needed features and your expectations.

Further information will follow - stay tuned!

Hi Sebastian,

i think the idea to have orbitron on a website is awesome, and at this point, i really think may be very valuable, not only or ham radio operator or satellite fans, but also for researchers, students and private companies. Even i'm agree with you that would be posible to offer different access levels for different kind of users (some of them for free and some of them by paying a fee).

As technologies i think Ajax and Asyncronous connections should be used, as it allow the system to stay working apart the front-end, that may be personalized to the needs of each one.

Login secured and a secondary tcp/udp port might be a good idea to mantain streams of information (probably best with udp).

The interface, like the hard client, tab-based and with posibilities to maximize the screen.

Finally, in this very short post, i would add the options to send alerts: sound, graphical, email, sms and a backend accesible to read from other programming languages from the system so others can automate alerts based on several behaviors.

That were my ideas.

Regards.

With so many mobile devices with Web browsers, a web base solution would be great.  I can download pages from heavens-above to give me a point of reference.  However, where to look and when is particularly difficult for Iridium flares.

The PDA folks have a solution with SatCE.
Thanks!
